Canadian Publishers’ Council is an active member of the International Publishers’ Association. This organization was established in 1896, is located in Switzerland and promotes “publishing as a force for economic, political and cultural development”. It is involved, among other things, in copyright issues, opposition of censorship and international standards in publishing (ISBN and DOI).
The 2006 IPA Copyright Congress was held in Montreal.
